Apparently this page is for me to tell you about me. So uh, here we go.

My name is Alex (if you can’t tell already). I am 24 and I live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (where the weather can never make up its mind). I have an amazing wife and two wonderful kids. My full time job involves a bit of everything (managing IT assets, R&D assets, software testing, automated software testing, etc) but my main focus is Microsoft Azure. Currently working towards my Azure Solutions Architect Expert and Azure DevOps Engineer Expert certifications. I hold an AAS in Network Engineering and currently have aspirations of either doing something with cloud computing, data centers, running my own business, or making games. I’m still in that odd stage of “what do I really want to do as a career.”

I love digging into technology, science (mostly Space related), firearms, and history topics. I enjoy reading action thriller books as well. Currently reading through Brad Thor’s Scott Harvath series. If you happen to get me to talk about any of these topics I will probably never stop. You’ve been warned!

Tech Stuff

I’ve had a few people ask me to post my current setup at home somewhere; so I figured this would be the best place to talk about it.

My current setup consists of the following 3 things. The Desk, The Rack, and Mobile devices.

The Desk

My desk is custom built via a 8ftx2ft 3/4in Plywood table top. It uses wood as the main leg/rear supports, and has a metal L girder under the front. This girder gives me the ability to route cables under my desk as well as stick my magnetic screw dish to it. Works fairly well and the desk hardly moves. However, I will probably change out the wood support system with a square metal tube support frame eventually. As well as possibly extending the width of the desk. The Rack

The rack is where all of my devices, except for mobile, are stored. My homelab is built to be powerful but also quiet. It currently lives in my bedroom so it really needs to be quiet!

Below is a gallery of the rack’s evolution. Click to enlarge images as some are larger than the gallery thumbnails show! The wiring in the back is a mess due to me having to tear it apart a few times recently as well as not having enough cable management sleeves..
